Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She joined NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the Chief Correspondent to Congress. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist as well as presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Her reporting included a number of important stories like the Iran-contra affair, the budget and tax reform, as well as the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively with President Reagan during summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
